2009 Mercedes-Benz SLK-Class - If you haven't been in the market for a convertible in a while, you might be surprised to learn how many retractable-hardtop convertibles are available. Mercedes-Benz's SLK-Class was at the forefront of this trend when it debuted for the 1998 model year. It's gone through one complete redesign since then, and for 2009 it receives modest styling changes inside and out � and a more powerful 3.5-liter V-6 engine in the SLK350, which I tested. Information about Annette Dutton => As is usually the case with luxury cars, even the base engine � a 3.5-liter gasoline V-6 � is plenty powerful, capable of 0-60 times of just 6.5 seconds, according to Mercedes. As the table illustrates, the diesel has less horsepower than the V-6 gas engine but more torque than the V-8 gas engine. Torque is important, and nowhere is that clearer than in the Bluetec's 0-60 time, which is a mere tenth of a second slower than the E350 gas version.
That might seem an odd thing to boast about in an era of rising fuel prices. The conventional wisdom now is to slow down and save gas. We endorse that advice. But we also recognize that driving never has been and never will be solely about saving gas. A multifaceted look - I like the exterior of the SX4, which includes a standard body kit.
No complaints about mileage. Hyundai had the third best fleet mileage rating last year (22.7 m.p.g.) behind only Honda (22.9) and Toyota (22.8).
